Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I have a photoshoot?
Pretty much anywhere! I often find myself at your home or the yard where your horse is kept and as these are often countryside settings, we are able to use the surrounding areas to create beautiful natural backdrops. I love to use gardens, laneways, fields, stable yards, fences, walls, gates, bushes….anything natural and rustic looking. If your home or yard is not suitable then a public woodland, park or beach is a great option. You may need to seek permission to use certain locations so make sure to check this.
Do you travel all over Ireland?
Yes! In fact I am also available for international travel. I’m currently based in Co.Sligo, so if your location is more than 2 hours drive away, I will usually put your name on a waitlist for that region until I have another booking and can make a trip out of it. The travel charge will be split between each booking.
How many animals and people can I have in my photoshoot?
As many as you like! If you have more than 3 animals you would like photographed you will need to book an extra hour for your session which cost €50. This gives us more time and flexibility on the day which I believe is important. In my experience, it can take some time for animals to settle and for us to get into a flow with the photos. You sold also bare in mind that my style of photography is best suited to small numbers so I can focus on capturing the the relationship between you and your animals rather than having to worry about any extra people.
What happens if there is bad weather or it rains on the day of my photoshoot?
Not to worry, I will be keeping an eye on the weather forecast in the lead up to your session and if there is high chance of rain forecast I will offer to reschedule for the next convenient date. If the day of your photoshoot arrives and we are surprised by unforecast rain, the best thing to do is to wait it out an hour or so and see if it improves. The good thing is that most weather conditions are great for photography. In fact my favourite conditions to shoot in are overcast skies as they produces beautiful soft and even lighting and eliminates squinting eyes!
What should I wear for my photoshoot?
Ultimately this is up to you but if you are not sure, a clean and classic casual outfit like jeans, boots and a nice jumper is a safe option to produce beautiful, timeless photos. I also really like when people wear outfits that they would normally wear if they were at the yard or out walking with their dog. I love to capture people as they would naturally be when I am not there. That said, I find it most appealing when clothing colours are fairly neutral or complimenting some aspect of the scenery we are shooting in. Sometimes a splash of colour works really well too although I always recommend to avoid clothing that has bright colours or harsh patterns as this can be very distracting in the images. You are more than welcome to change your outfit up a couple times throughout the portrait session which is a great way to create variety within your photos.
How many photos will I get from a photoshoot?
This will depend on the package which you have chosen and how long we are shooting for as well as how cooperative animals are on the day. For portrait sessions, I will display a gallery of at least 40 web images to choose from. Digital images can be purchased after the session.
What is a Social Media Image?
A social media image is a digital file that you can download to your mobile/laptop, view digitally and share online. The social media images you receive from your photoshoot will be approx 1920 x 1080 pixels which ensures your images will look great when viewed digital devices or posted online!
Can I order prints?
Yes! The most important thing to do after your photoshoot is to make sure you create some beautiful unique wall art and keepsakes with your images. Printing options will be available to you when you receive your gallery. All you have to do is decide which photos to print, how you would like to display them and I will look after the rest!
If you would like to purchase high resolution digital files with printing permissions this will also be available to you.
Can I use my photos for commercial purposes?
Images from portrait sessions do not have commercial permissions. You can purchase commercial permission to use an image or if you are a business interested in a brand photoshoot this can certainly be arranged. Head over to my contact page, fill out a contact form and lets talk business!
